The MFL department is delighted to be able to offer a trip to the French Alps in 2013. The trip will be open to all Year 9 and 10 students of French, leaving in the evening of Friday, 24th May and returning on Thursday, 30th May, therefore during the half term week.
Our lodging, which will be named by the tour operator before our departure, will be ideally located for our planned excursions:
- A visit to the Swiss city of Geneva, including a boat trip on Lake Geneva
- A visit to the Italian city of Aosta, passing through the Mont Blanc tunnel
- A visit to the beautiful and historic town of Annecy, situated by Lake Annecy, and overlooked by the mountains of the French Alps
- A trip to a glacier on the Aiguille du Midi cable car, once the world’s highest cable car, reaching an altitude of 3842m (almost two and a half miles above sea level, and looking down the town of Chamonix below) – weather permitting
The cost of the trip will be £450 which includes food, travel, insurance, full-board accommodation from arrival in the French Alps; in fact everything except personal pocket money.
We do hope that you think this trip will be of benefit to your son or daughter. It will be an excellent opportunity to practise language skills, as well as spending time, in my opinion, in one of the most beautiful areas of France. Please complete the return slip on the letter which can be downloaded here: FrenchAlpTrip and enclose a cheque payable to Perins School for £50 by way of deposit and send it back to the school office by Friday, 12th October. There will be a collective passport for this trip, and details will be posted out once we have sufficient numbers for the trip, along with requirements, such as medical forms.
Please be aware that if there are insufficient numbers, the trip will not go ahead. In the event of a cancellation all monies will be refunded. Should you withdraw your son or daughter from the trip, unless there is a medical certificate, no monies will be refunded. In the event of over-subscription for the trip, students’ names will be chosen at random, and there are a maximum of 44 places on the trip. Please do not hesitate to contact me at the school should you require any further details.
