Privacy Notice

Perins School – A Community Sports College holds personal data about its pupils and is a “data controller” in respect of this for the purposes of the Data Protection Act 1998.   We use this data to:

  • support our pupils’ teaching and learning;
  • monitor and report on their progress;
  • provide appropriate pastoral care, and
  • assess how well the school as a whole is doing.

The data includes contact details, national curriculum assessment results, attendance information, characteristics such as ethnic group, special educational needs and any relevant medical information.  It may include information which is passed to us from students’ previous schools or from Hampshire County Council and the Learning Records Service.   If students enrol for post-14 qualifications we will be provided with their unique learner number by the Learning Records Service and may also obtain from them details of any learning or qualifications the student has undertaken.  If your child leaves Perins to go to another school, we will pass information onto their new school, which will be similarly bound by the Data Protection Act 1998.

We will not give information about you to anyone outside the school without your consent unless the law and our rules allow us to. We follow the Hampshire Children’s Trust policy on Information Sharing & Confidentiality which can be viewed at http://www3.hants.gov.uk/information_sharing_policy_2009_-_trust_version.pdf

We are required by law to pass some of your information to the Local Authority and the Department for Education (DfE).   We also have local arrangements in place where the school exchanges limited information with the school nurse.   Once students are aged 13 or over we are required to pass on certain information to the Connexions services.  Connexions is the national support service for all young people aged 13 to 19 in England.  We must provide parents’ and students’ name and address, and any further information relevant to the Connexions services’ role.  However, students (if over 16) or their parents can ask that no information beyond name and address be passed to Connexions.  Please inform the Data and Communications Manager, Mrs Jones, via the school office if you wish to opt-out of the information sharing arrangement.  For more information about Connexions services and the Integrated Youth Teams in Hampshire please go to http://www3.hants.gov.uk/childrens-services/youthtube.htm .”
