At the start of half term – 40 year 11 GCSE History pupils went to London for a two day tour of London to visit places associated with London, the Blitz and its role in WWII, to help with the warfare units of the History GCSE course. As well as a tour of the City of London, Westminster and the Docks, all targeted areas of the Blitz , we also go to visit the Battle of Britain Bunker and the Cabinet war rooms – both of which were essential to the planning of the war.
We were lucky enough to take part in a wreath-laying ceremony at the Afghanistan War memorial and saw the secretary of defence and his minister, as well as a fleeting glimpse of Princess Anne! “The trip was a great success, the pupils were a credit to themselves and the school. I hope being able to see many of the places associated with the course, brough the History to life and pupils will be able to use the knowledge they gained in their studies. As well as having a great experience and creating memories!. I would like to thank all the staff and pupils who made the trip such a great success!”
