Cricket – Hampshire State Schools Cup
In the final week of last term, the U13 cricket team won the plate section of the Hampshire State Schools competition, defeating John Hanson comprehensively in the final.
South Africa Sports Tour
89 students represented the school superbly on the two week tour of South Africa this summer. All teams performed admirably against strong opposition in stunning settings. A diverse array of excursions including surfing, safari and a visit to the Apartheid Museum helped to produce wonderful memories. The highlight for many students proved to be the coaching work they did with some extremely grateful primary school children in a township on the outskirts of Cape Town.
During the summer break several Perins students achieved notable success. Jenny M in Year 10 played golf for Hampshire, winning her individual tie against her Kent counterpart. Frankie W in Year 9 represented Basingstoke in the Team Gym British Championships in Liverpool and finished 4th. Abi M in Year 11 and Anya D in Year 10 were both selected for the Surrey Storm netball development programme.
Dylan W in Year 10 competed at the pony club eventing championships in Gloucester on his horse Rusty and was placed 4th. The regional championships were host to 53 different pony clubs, each sending teams from south England and Wales. The competition consisted of dressage, show jumping and a cross country phase.
The New Term
Attendance at sports clubs in this new term has been outstanding. Our new Year 7s have made a great impression with their enthusiasm – three Year 7 rugby teams were fielded against Portsmouth Grammar School this week and competed impressively.
