Owen B in Year 8 travelled to Lyon at the weekend to play in a rugby tournament for the London Irish Rugby Team.  They played really well and it was a closely matched competition, but the London Irish pulled through and won the overall trophy.  Well done!


A Year 9 tennis squad reached the semi-finals of the Bedales Tie Break Tens Tournament on Wednesday. All players performed magnificently but special mentions must go to Toby B who was unbeaten throughout the day and Melissa T who stepped up to play in the boys’ matches most impressively.


Rachel K in Year 9 and Lottie H in Year 10 have been commended by the Hampshire Cricket Board for their sensational volunteering efforts for what is known as Hampshire’s ‘Vipers Champions’ programme. Both girls have been supporting younger county squads through coaching, scoring and umpiring and have recently been recognised for their efforts by being treated to a day at the Ageas Bowl to spend time with the Head Groundsman, the Directors of Men’s & Women’s cricket and to try out live radio commentating!


The Year 7 girls’ athletics squad joined the Year 9 squads in the Hampshire Track Knock Out Finals by finishing as runners up at their semi-final event this Monday.

Eight Perins athletes represented Eastleigh and Winchester District at the Hampshire Schools Athletics Championships last Saturday. All performed impressively and four collected medals. Positions were as follows:

  • Nathan L – 1st U15 1500m (4.32.7)
  • Owen B – 1st U15 LJ (5.38m)
  • Issy B – 2nd U17 800m (2.25.8)
  • Evie B – 3rd U15 300m (44.8)
  • Frankie W – 5th U15 LJ (4.69m)
  • Flo N – 5th U15 Shot (8.58m)
  • Jonty E – 10th U15 LJ (4.45m)
  • Jon N – 11th U15 TJ (9.45m)


Christopher L in Year 10 and Nicholas L Year 8 have been selected to represent England in the WIKF Global Cup, which will be held in Crawley in September. Nicholas will be competing in Kata and Christopher will be competing in Tanto Dori.


Congratulations to Charlie R in Year 9 who won the Female School Personality of the Year Award at last weekend’s Reading Sports Awards, for her outstanding exploits in synchronised swimming this year.


Ex-pupil Betty Glover, who came on the Perins South Africa Sport Tour in 2011 to play Netball, is now a Sports News reporter on BBC Radio 2. She has also started a podcast called NetBallers ( on 5 Live. She is co-hosting with Sasha and Kadeen Corbin who both have over 60 caps for England each. They have a guest star each week, and this week it was Montana Brown from last year’s Love Island who also plays netball.
