Letter from Mr Nevola 20th Nov 25
Dear Parents and Carers,
Our Word of the Week continues with the team’s enthusiasm for the letter “R.” This week’s choice, Revise, is especially fitting as our Year 11 students embark on their trial exams. We are proud to share that our year 11 have adapted admirably to exam procedures and are generally demonstrating excellent focus and commitment.
As the weather begins to turn and warnings are issued across parts of the UK, please be assured that our SharePoint platform is fully stocked with subject-specific resources. These materials are ready to support students in maintaining their learning schedule should remote study become necessary. A further reminder that those waiting for the late bus can access a warm waiting area in the classrooms on the top floor of Eliot building until 1700, or the cafeteria area from 1700 until the late bus leaves.
We are delighted to announce that our Día de los Muertos video project, led by the MFL and Art departments with support from our Media team, has received recognition from the Mexican Embassy. This vibrant collaboration is a wonderful celebration of our students’ creativity and cultural engagement.
With a drive at Perins to further increase student voice opportunities, our student council will be meeting next week with a view to developing a Perins Student Senate. We will also be conducting interviews with our year 10 students to recruit them to posts of responsibility at Perins following the recent application round.
As part of our ongoing building improvement works, we continue to manage the presence of asbestos in line with national safety standards. Recently, a small area within a staff toilet was identified and immediately sealed off while the asbestos management plan is followed. With over 81% of schools in England still containing some asbestos, we remain committed to transparency and safety. All senior leaders at Perins have subsequently completed further training in asbestos management, and wider staff are being offered training to further strengthen safe practices across the site.
Warm regards,
Mark Nevola
Head of Perins School
