Year 8 Transform Students Shine in Sustainability Challenge

This term, our Year 8 Transform students took part in the Winchester Sustainability Pyramid ‘Dragons’ Den’ competition, alongside students from five other local secondary schools.
As part of the challenge, students were asked to create, design and pitch an idea to help make Perins more sustainable. The winning pitch from each school was then presented to a panel of ‘Dragons’ in the final round, held at Sparsholt College.
We’re incredibly proud of Lila and Catrin, whose project was selected to represent Perins at the final. Not only did they deliver a fantastic pitch, but they also successfully secured £300 of funding for their idea and gained the support of two Dragons:
Susan Simmonds, Conservationist for Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust
Mary Jackson, Head of Education for Learning Through Landscapes
“It was a challenge but really rewarding to secure the money we needed from the Dragons and to get to work with them.” – Lila & Catrin (Year 8)
“It’s great to see our Year 8 students thinking seriously about how to make Perins more sustainable, and it was brilliant to watch them represent the school in such a professional manner.” – Mr Graham, Head of Transformational Learning
A huge congratulations to Lila and Catrin for their creativity, confidence and commitment to positive change. We look forward to seeing their project in action!
