“Training where real Premier League players train made me feel like anything is possible. Being out on those pitches, surrounded by facilities usually only seen on TV, gave me a huge boost of confidence. It made me realise that with hard work and determination, dreams that once felt far away suddenly feel within reach.”

Manchester City Football Trip - Year 7

Manchester City FC have been the dominant force in English football since Pep Guardiola arrived in 2016. The heavily funded club is world-renowned for its free-flowing football, unrivalled recent trophy cabinet, and elite facilities. The club are now seeing further success with the Women's first-team, who are favourites for the WSL this year.

This annual trip gives our new Year 7 cohort the chance to experience world-class football facilities as we immerse ourselves in the world of Manchester City Football Club. The trip includes two training sessions at The City Football Academy, home to the first-team training pitches, academy facilities, and the Women's Joie Stadium. The students will also get a guided tour of the Etihad Stadium, encompassing the stands, suites, media centre, changing rooms, and most impressively, the dugout and technical areas to get a first-hand experience of the facilities on offer.

"Seeing the students’ faces when they stepped into the first‑team changing room was unforgettable. It was a moment of pure inspiration.”

The trip would not be complete without some further footballing experiences. Games will be organised against local opposition clubs of similar ability to create a touring team atmosphere, allowing game time for all attendees. Finally, we go to the Etihad Stadium to watch the men's first team play a Premier League fixture. Recent opposition teams on our trip have been: Wolves in 2024- a 5-1 win, with Haaland scoring 4 goals! Wolves again in 2025, a 1-0 win, with De Bruyne scoring his last goal for City, and in 2026- Crystal Palace, the surprise form team of the league this year.

“Playing against local teams made the trip feel like a real football tour. We felt like a proper squad.”

This is an invite-only trip, with students expected to attend the football club throughout September and October to be invited.

“Working hard at school football to earn my place made going on the trip feel even more special.”
