Safeguarding Statement

Safeguarding legislation and government guidance states that safeguarding means:

  • Protecting children from maltreatment
  • Preventing impairment of children’s health or development
  • Ensuring that children are growing up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care
  • Taking action to enable all children and young people to have the best outcome

Safeguarding primarily includes child protection, health care plans, health and safety, site security, safety on school trips, anti-bullying work however there are numerous other elements which can also fall under the safeguarding umbrella.

The school’s Safeguarding Team consists of Lex Western (Designated Safeguarding Lead), Amy Craig, Fernley Calver, Mark Nevola, Clive Surry, Steve Jones (Deputy Safeguarding Leads) and Fiona Stone (Guidance Manager).

All Perins staff receive an annual Child Protection and Safeguarding update training session from the DSL and complete appropriate compulsory training. Perins staff are made aware of the procedures for passing on concerns within school, and this appears in the Perins Staff Handbook which is regularly updated. If any student, parent, staff or members of the local community have concerns about the welfare of a child in the school, please pass them on to the Designated Safeguarding Lead, or Deputy Safeguarding Leads, or if there is an immediate safety concern, the Police.  Please use the emails addresses linked above or phone Perins School on 01962 734361.
