Perins School BelfastTrip 2023

Over the half term Perins PE department took a trip to Belfast for our Rugby and Netball Tour.

We were so proud to have such amazing students with us, reflected by the wonderful comments from staff at the hotel, the reps and on every trip we did. Both teams played their hearts out in their fixtures, worked incredibly hard and made it such good fun! Thank you.

Overall Tour Winners:

  • Rugby Player’s Player - Jack
  • Rugby Coaches Player - Bryn
  • Netball Player’s Player - Ava
  • Netball Coaches Player - Mollie
  • Honourable mentions: Livvy, Maddie, Callum, Alfie
  • Surfing Champion - Bertie
  • Captain Culture - Liam

Day 1:  26 students and 4 members of staff, looking smart in their matching hoodies, tops and rucksacks, flew from Heathrow to Belfast City. We started our tour long murder mystery game and played pool before a fun game of bowling at Hollywood Bowl. Finishing off with some relaxing downtime playing card games and watching films.

Day 2: Training sessions began at Qubelfast followed by a fantastic trip to the Titanic museum, where we learnt the full history from its build to the aftermath. The boys had their first rugby match with a 26-17 win vs Antrim Grammar School, followed by dominos in the clubhouse. Bryn got Player of the Match and was awarded an Antrim hat. The evening was completed with a tense challenge pong tournament with the top 4 awarded prizes.

Day 3: A self-guided tour of Giants Causeway listening to the interesting facts and stories, followed by lots of climbing on the hexagonal rocks and a walk up the cliff. We then had a fantastic surf lesson at Portrush Surfschool, where we were taught how to control the board and pop up to stand. Lots of successful students standing with a special mention to Livvy, Bertie and Olly. The day was rounded up with a quiz for entertainment and a few more deaths in the murder mystery game!

Day 4: Started with an open city bus tour around Belfast, where we signed the Peace Wall, then onto Nando’s for lunch. We also popped into City Hall and looked around the museum before going shopping in the city centre. Then it was time for evening fixtures: Netball vs Crumlin lost 36-20 and Rugby vs Coleraine lost 24-21. Both teams played so incredibly well, the staff were gutted for them.

Day 5: Our last breakfast at Dunsilly Hotel where we did our thank you’s and presentation followed by a look around St Georges Belfast market then back to the airport for our home bound journey.
