A Powerful Visit from Chris Lubbe

On the penultimate day of the spring term, our Year 11 students had the incredible opportunity to hear from Chris Lubbe, who once served as a bodyguard to Nelson Mandela. This visit was not just a talk; it was a profound experience that left a lasting impact on everyone present.
Chris Lubbe shared captivating stories about his time with Mandela and his experiences growing up under apartheid in South Africa. His narrative was not only engaging but also deeply educational, providing our students with a firsthand account of history that many had only read about in textbooks.
Through his stories, Chris illustrated powerful themes of perseverance, resilience, and the importance of reconciliation. He spoke about the challenges he faced and how Mandela's leadership and vision for a united South Africa inspired him and many others. These themes resonated strongly with our students, who listened with rapt attention and respect.
The session was a testament to the power of storytelling and its ability to inspire and educate. Chris's words encouraged our students to think critically about their own lives and the world around them, fostering a deeper understanding of the values of perseverance and resilience.
We extend a huge thank you to Chris Lubbe for such an inspiring session. His visit was a highlight of the term and a memorable experience for all involved. We are also incredibly proud of our Year 11 students, who represented the school with maturity and respect, showing outstanding attentiveness throughout the talk.
This visit was a reminder of the importance of learning from those who have lived through significant historical events. It was an honour to host Chris Lubbe, and we look forward to more opportunities to bring such enriching experiences to our students.
