Dear Parents and Carers,

Over the past couple of weeks, we have noticed a rise in children attending school after experiencing vomiting and/or diarrhoea at home.

We kindly remind you of the importance of following the 48-hour rule: if your child has been unwell with these symptoms, they should remain at home for 48 hours after the last episode. This helps us to minimise the spread of illness and keep everyone in our school community safe and well.

As we head into the season of coughs and colds, we appreciate your support in helping us care for your child during the school day. If your child is feeling under the weather, perhaps with a sore throat, heavy cold, or raised temperature, we ask that any necessary medication be given before they arrive at school. Please note that we are only able to administer one paracetamol tablet during the day, and if this is needed before 12:00, we will contact you to confirm they have not already received a dose and to gain your consent.

If your child becomes unwell while at school, we rely on the information they share with us. While we always aim to keep children in school where possible, if we feel they need to go home, we will contact you and ask that they are collected promptly.

We fully recognise the importance of school attendance, but your child’s health and the wellbeing of all students and staff, remain our top priority.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding.
