Arts Festival 2025: Creative Writing Challenge

As part of this year’s Arts Festival celebrations, the English Department is excited to launch a creative writing competition that puts the spotlight on something very close to home, your Perins house!

We’re inviting all students to write a short story or poem inspired by your house name, colour, or emblem. This is your chance to explore the identity and history of your house in a creative and imaginative way.

Could your writing take flight with the power of Ventus? Might it draw strength from the earthy roots of Terra, or the fiery energy of Ignis? Or perhaps it flows with the calm persistence of Aqua? There are so many directions your writing could go, mythology, symbolism, or even a tale set within the world of your house colours. The possibilities are endless!

Competition Details:

• Your entry must be your own original work, no AI assistance permitted.
• You may write in prose or poetry form.
• Your writing should be a maximum of two A4 pages.
• Optional: Feel free to illustrate your work, although it’s not required.
• Please print and hand in typed entries where possible.

Submission Deadline: Tuesday 1st July 2025

Hand in your entry to Miss Conway in P7 or to your English teacher.

This is a brilliant opportunity to blend creativity with house pride, so get inspired, get writing, and show us what your house means to you. We can’t wait to read your work!
