Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope you and your family are feeling refreshed and recharged after a well-deserved summer break. As our students are due to return to school on Monday 8th September, it is with great excitement and heartfelt enthusiasm that I welcome you to the start of a brand-new academic year at Perins School.

This summer was filled with proud moments and unforgettable experiences. Our South Africa Sports Tour was a resounding success, offering students the opportunity to grow, connect, and create lifelong memories. On 21st August, we were thrilled to celebrate with our Year 11 leavers as they received their GCSE results. Their achievements were truly exceptional, with standout performances in the core subjects of English, Maths, and Science. Their dedication and resilience were inspiring, and we couldn’t be prouder.

We also saw the true spirit of Perins shine through on 2nd September, when numerous of our older students supported staff to welcome our new Year 7 cohort during the pre-season sports activity day. Their leadership and generosity set a wonderful tone for the year ahead.

Our staff have been busy preparing for the new term through our professional development days. Designing engaging lessons, expanding extracurricular offerings, and ensuring a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for every student. We are entering the 2025–2026 school year with renewed energy, optimism, and a shared commitment to helping every child thrive.

At Perins, our ethos Aspire today: Inspire tomorrow continues to guide everything we do. We encourage our students to dream boldly, act with integrity, and pursue excellence. Our school is a place where curiosity is nurtured, kindness is expected, and achievement is celebrated. We are proud of the vibrant learning community we have built together and look forward to strengthening our partnership with you throughout the year.

Thank you for your continued support and trust in Perins School. Together, we will ensure every child feels valued, challenged, and inspired.

Please keep an eye on our newsletters and website for key updates, important dates, and opportunities to get involved. If you have any questions or concerns, our team is there to help.

As we begin the new academic year, we kindly ask that all students arrive on time and in full school uniform from the very first day of term. If any student has concerns about their uniform, they are encouraged to speak with their tutor directly.

Lesson timetables are available via Arbor and Edulink. While minor adjustments may be made once students return, the majority are accurate. EduLink has also been updated and remains a valuable tool for parents to stay informed and engaged.

As highlighted by the education minister, https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cg7jk3rr225o, attendance during the first week of term is especially important. If your child is finding the transition back to school challenging, please contact our Attendance Team promptly. They are there to support.

This year, Hampshire County Transport has introduced QR code bus passes, which can be stored on mobile phones. As Perins is a smartphone-free environment, students may only access their devices after 3:15 pm when boarding the bus. Alternatively, QR codes can be printed, and we are happy to assist with laminating these for use as physical bus passes.

With technology evolving rapidly, we remind families that smart devices, including smartphones, smartwatches, smart glasses, and wireless earbuds, are not permitted for use during school hours. These must be turned off and stored out of sight in the bottom of students’ school bags from arrival through the school gate until 3:15 pm. Any device seen or used during this time will be confiscated. We encourage families to explore safer alternatives to smartphones, which pose inherent safeguarding risks.

Here’s to a joyful, purposeful, and successful year ahead. We can’t wait to see what our students will achieve.
Warm regards,

Mark Nevola
