Dear parents and carers,

I hope you all enjoyed a wonderful Easter break. Perins remained busy during the holiday period; I have many groups to thank: All those staff who supported students with GCSE revision during the two-week period; those parents who assisted the site team to improve the environment around the campus; the team who accompanied our young people on the very successful ski trip to the Alps and the PE team who organised a Good Friday football trip to Reading. Students watched former Perins pupil George Wickens play in a game for Lincoln City FC. The highlight for our students was George putting in a star performance and then throwing his sweaty football shirt into the section of the crowd occupied by our travelling group. The next football trip is planned for 2nd of May where our teams play schools in the north of England and watch a match between Manchester City and Wolves.

Last weekend, our Duke of Edinburgh Awards group enjoyed a successful practice expedition and are now on target to complete their bronze award.

I am pleased to announce that following the students asking for more covered spaces on the school site, Perins Community has delivered! A large, covered area for student use has just been completed (more details and photos will follow in our newsletter). Looking at this impressive achievement, we anticipate an appetite for future fundraising ventures to improve campus facilities.

Our Education partner Elevate, who work with Perins to assist students with study skills, have their next parent support webinar session to kick off the summer term entitled Ask Me Anything. This parent support session is an hour dedicated to giving parents the chance to get their questions answered. It is the perfect opportunity for parents of KS4 students to ask for advice on any particular study issue their child might be facing, or to go over queries from a previous webinar. Live Parent Webinar: Ask Me Anything (Live Q&A)- Tuesday 6th May 6:00-7:00 pm (BST) sign up details- https://go.elevateeducation.com/ukschoolwebinar

With the increasing emphasis on schools looking to assist parents in reducing the cost of school uniform our “Friends of Perins” has successfully raised over £650 recycling uniform articles. We are looking to further support lowering costs by ensuring a return to the wearing of school shoes from September. This reduces both peer pressure and excessive cost for students who feel they are obliged to wear expensive, branded, polishable trainers.  Details of the programme to roll this out will follow in a future school communication.

With so much planned for our community over the summer term we look forward to seeing your child maximise their participation and involvement in the activities we offer. https://www.perins.net/school-life/clubssports-fixtures

Yours faithfully
